GIFTED HUMANS Generally, gifted humans have their powers since birth. There may be some cases where gifts are acquired during one's lifetime, but it is very rare. The vast majority of gifted humans receive their power through accidental mutations in their genetic code. Experiments attempting to change the code rarely result in gifts, though it is possible. Powers can be pretty much anything as long as your character isn't immortal/invincible. They can be whatever you'd like; something serious or something silly like being able to make bubbles randomly. Try to come up with something new, or at least try not to repeat what everyone else has done! Gifted humans are not allowed to reveal their gifts to the public. They may, of course, have a show-and-tell with a select few, but even then it should be done carefully. You never know how someone will act. The sanctuary at Riverwood is only for gifted humans and their close friends/family, no humans without relation are allowed. VAMPIRES Vampires at The River don't drink blood. They "feed" off a person's life energy. Humans never become vampires, it is something in the DNA of a gifted human that allows them to turn into a vampire. Vampires are more or less the same as a gifted human, except they have slightly better senses and must feed on people's energy. There is no alternative to the energy of a human (gifted or non, doesn't matter to a vampire though one may "taste" better to the individual). If a vampire goes a long time without feeding, anyone who comes in contact with the vampire may fall victim. It happens through any sort of physical contact, and because of this, vampires often prefer to acquire energy through intimate means. A vampire doesn't have to kill to get a person's life energy. However if they drain too much, the victim may appear 'empty' or a shell of their former self. It is unknown if a human can recover from its life energy being taken away. The only way to turn into a vampire is to be a gifted human influenced by the crystal of the Ramsay family (more crystals may exist, but their location is unknown). One must go under several "treatments" before becoming a vampire. Often, vampires don't realize what they are - after all, vampires are thought to be blood-sucking demons. You may portray these vampires however you'd like, using these basic guidelines.
