THE RULES
Please familiarize yourself with the rules below. We'll keep it as short as possible while still going over all that is necessary! If you've been around, these rules are more or less common sense now - nothing should be too new. Be sure to check the "New Member Guide" for other important information and a general checklist!
I. Respect and courtesy are a must. Use your common sense and treat others fairly and kindly. Expanding on that last bit, try not to make dreaded cliques - we want to include everyone!
II. As per Proboards TOS, our forum operates under a PG-13 rating. This isn't something that can't be changed - so keep anything questionable away. If you have questions, feel free to message me about it.
III. Although The River is a literate roleplay, we have no set word count. As long as you use proper grammar and spelling and don't reply to a six-paragraph post with one measly paragraph, all should be fine. Generally a few descriptive paragraphs is enough for your partner(s)!
IV. Regarding activity, try to log in to your accounts as often as possible and post within a reasonable time to threads you've committed to. If you're going to be away for more than a week or two, please post in the absences board!
V. There is no character limit or gender ratio - just try to keep things even and play both sides if you're comfortable!
VI. Be creative when making characters! Don't go for the typical invisibility or mind-reading gifts, think of something more interesting. Of course, these are still allowed - but wouldn't you like something out of the ordinary for an extraordinary character?
VII. Reuse/repeating of gifts is allowed, but please be considerate. For more obscure powers that you wouldn't have though of by yourself, you should talk to the original creator and see if it's alright to reuse.
VIII. Real-life face claims are required at The River. You may use any person you would like as long as they are well-known and not on any sort of do-not-use/banned list. Characters and face-claims should be at least 13 years old.
IX. We love drama at The River! We also love any sort of roleplaying, from serious to silly - it doesn't matter as long as it's fun! Keeping that in mind, we don't like drama outside of roleplaying so try to keep that to a minimum.
X. As for images - avatars are the usual 150x150 (though they always appear smaller). A 230x400 hover image, or larger avatar of sorts, is also required. Signature images are not required and may not be larger than 900x300. Should the skin change, the 900px width will liked be changed, so keep that in mind! Try to refrain from posting huge images.
